Raznovrsni pristupi i metodologija istraživača povjesničara kulture i medicine, sociologa i muzikologa najčešće počivaju na analizi usporedba, gradnji modela i statistici.

These Proceedings present a collection of papers delivered at an international scholarly conference held in Zagreb on 24 and 25 November 2006, organized by the Croatian Musicological Society. In the papers presented here, various phases of nineteenth-century musical theatre which combined high and popular modes of culture are analysed: these include the impact of political and historical elements on theatrical production, as well as the socio-historical dimension of operatic production and its architectonic and visual elements. The following themes are also explored: the concept of repertories; the presentation of national aspirations and their relation to international practice; the adaptation of ideas, personnel, projects, cultural models and repertories to new circumstances; the reception of domestic and foreign works; the education of both the audiences and the performing artists. The interdisciplinary approach of the contributors to this volume, which draws on the history of culture, literature, medicine, sociology and musicology, is supported by an analysis of parallels, paradigms and statistics relevant to the subject as a whole.
